Buddhist Temple installs Solar Carports

Technology

Carport

Location

Surrey, England

Scope

Joos was commissioned to deliver a complete turnkey solar carport solution for a prominent Temple in the South-East of the UK. This project aimed to enhance Wat Phra Dhammakaya London’s energy independence while supporting its sustainability goals.

Key Benefits of the Solar Carport
  • Significant Energy Generation: The solar carport produces over 13 MWh of clean solar energy annually, helping the Temple reduce its reliance on the national grid and shielding it from rising electricity costs.
  • Carbon Emissions Reduction: By avoiding 6 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, this project contributes directly to the Temple’s Net Zero roadmap and long-term sustainability objectives.
  • Cost Savings: The Temple benefits from lower electricity costs, significantly relieving its energy budget and reducing its exposure to the volatile energy market.
  • EV Charging and Enhanced Lighting: In addition to generating solar energy, the carport includes EV charging stations for community use and enhanced lighting that improves overall car park safety.

This solar carport installation highlights Joos’ ability to provide innovative, sustainable solutions that reduce energy costs and lower carbon emissions, support Net Zero targets, and offer additional benefits like EV charging.

Rooftop Solar PV Installation at Killingholme Farm

Technology

Roof PV

Location

Lincolnshire, UK

Scope

AES selected Joos Solar’s equipment for a high-capacity rooftop solar PV system across the Killingholme Farm estate, a large-scale agricultural operation. The system boasts a 1 MW export capacity and offers the option for future battery storage integration, providing a sustainable energy solution for the farm’s growing energy needs.

Key Benefits
  • Energy Self-Consumption: The rooftop solar system generates 230,000 kWh annually, reducing Killingholme Farm’s reliance on grid electricity and lowering operational costs.
  • Grid Export: The system exports 850,000 kWh per year to the grid, turning surplus energy into a profitable revenue source for the farm.
  • CO2 Emissions Avoided: The installation, with Joos Solar’s high-efficiency technology, helps Killingholme Farm avoid 630,000 kg of CO2 emissions annually, supporting the UK’s drive toward sustainability and net-zero goals.
  • Off-Grid Capabilities: The system achieves an impressive 89.6% self-sufficiency, reducing the farm’s vulnerability to rising energy prices and power grid instability.
Why Joos Solar?
AES chose Joos Solar equipment for this substantial project due to its reliable performance, energy efficiency, and durability, which will ensure long-term benefits for Killingholme Farm’s operations.

This case study emphasises the significant environmental and economic benefits of Joos Solar’s products for a large-scale solar PV installation.

Ringway Jacobs Harnesses the Power of Solar Frames

Technology

Solar Frame

Location

Lincolnshire, UK

Scope
Construction sites typically rely on a mix of LPG, diesel-powered generators, and grid connections for power. When planning a new site compound, Ringway Jacobs sought a renewable energy solution to reduce its reliance on these traditional power sources. Ringway began procuring a more sustainable power option as part of its parent company, Eurovia’s commitment to transitioning construction sites from refined oils and LPG to renewable energy, natural gas, and hydrogen.
Solution

To meet their renewable energy goals, Ringway Jacobs designed their site office compound to accommodate Joos Solar’s Solar Frame technology. The installation included positioning solar frames on 10 welfare and storage units, creating a flexible and efficient solar power system.

Joos Solar Frame System: Joos Solar, in partnership with AES, provided a complete turnkey solution to install a 28.7 kW system. The system featured 10 solar frames capable of generating up to 27 MWh of clean energy annually, reducing Ringway’s carbon footprint by avoiding 12 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

Energy Storage Integration: Joos Solar also supplied a 30 kWh energy storage solution. This storage system powers site facilities during lowlight hours by leveraging surplus solar energy, ensuring a consistent power supply even when sunlight is scarce.

Benefits
This fully integrated renewable energy solution simplified Ringway Jacobs’ procurement process. By utilising Joos Solar’s Solar Frame technology, Ringway Jacobs successfully reduced its environmental impact, achieved energy independence, and met its ESG targets. The system is set to support their sustainability objectives for the next 12 years.

This case study highlights the efficiency and environmental benefits of the Joos Solar Frame system to deliver a renewable power solution for the construction industry.

‘’We are delighted with the installation of a 6-bay carport within our temple. It is a 16.5kW solar carport with EV and battery by Joos. This addition significantly benefits our community by promoting sustainable energy use and providing electric vehicle charging options.

Joos demonstrated exceptional professionalism throughout the project, ensuring a seamless and efficient process from start to finish. Their expertise and dedication to quality have enhanced our facilities and aligned with our commitment to environmental responsibility.

Off the back of this work, we have also commissioned Joos to install another 16.5kw Solar Carport and a 14Kw roof-mounted system on our building too. We highly recommend Joos for their outstanding service and contribution to our community’s sustainability efforts.’’
